MARC GRANT, D.O.

BOARD CERTIFIED ANESTHESIOLOGIST FOR OVER 40 YEARS,

BOARD CERTIFIED BY AMERICAN BOARD OF ADDICTION MEDICINE

Dr Grant explains who he is and what makes him qualified to treat addiction:

“The training I had as an anesthesiologist gives me insight into the management of pain that the other specialties cannot possibly have to offer their patients. That combined with training in addiction medicine enhances my ability to handle pain issues properly including getting patients from other pain clinics and physicians offices on much lower doses of opioid pain pills safely and with compassion and respect.

Respect is also key for the management of addiction. Unlike the vast majority of Addictionologists, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the American Board of Addiction Medicine,  I do not consider addiction a chronic relapsing brain disease. It is a behavior disorder that takes patience and understanding to treat properly. Changing behavior is very difficult, but a diagnosis of a chronic relapsing brain disease is a death sentence for their future.  Any patient of mine would gladly verify the time that I spend with them and the discussions we have are  very important to their recovery.

In home Detox is a major thrust of my work with addiction allowing for both a comfortable and compassionate setting and an opportunity to work with the family. Again, my training as an Anesthesiologist allows me to properly treat the symptoms of withdrawal effectively and safely.”
